Wind-up your top

The first rolls can be complicated, each spinner is different…

To remember:

  • The button must be securely attached behind the fingers.
  • Right-handers roll up clockwise, the left-handers in the counterclockwise direction.
  • First wraps around the tip of the top have to be very tight.
  • Control the position of your spintop in your hand and modify it accordingly to your results if necessary.

Throw your spinning top:

String spinning tops can be thrown in many ways, the so-called “petanque” or front throw is arguably the easiest to learn.

You should then learn the side throw to start the circus side of tops, or the vertical fight throw to start the spintop battles.

The precision or front throw

The throw in this video is usually the one used for target shooting.

Remember:

  • In your hand, the tip of the top should be visible and positioned about 10am.
  • Your fingers don’t really squeeze your spintop, just your thumb.
  • Move your whole arm, not just your elbow or wrist. Changes the position (10am) of the tip as needed by the lenght of your string.

The lateral throw

The throw used by jugglers! This throw is the most common for the tricks since it will lead, for example, to the Boomerang required for spintop tricks.

You should also try and master the front and the battle throw to start having fun.

Remember:

  • Don’t pull at the end of your movement, your hand must stay where it drops the spin top.
  • The movement again must be carried out by the whole arm, if necessary, adjusts the angle of the top in your hand between 90 ° and 140 ° (about:).

The fight throw

This throw is used all over the world, with a few exceptions, for traditional spinning top fights.

This time the spintop is launched from top to bottom allowing you to add all your strength to explode the opposing spinning tops!

When you know how to throw, aim for targets or opponents spinning tops!
