Here are the requirements for your first throws:
Throwing a spintop with a string:
The front throw
There are many ways to throw a spintop, the simplest to learn for us is the front throw we like to call it “petanque throw”.
The video shows the “front throw”, commonly used to practice spintop target shoots.
You should also try and achieve the “lateral throw” to learn spintop tricks!
Remember:
The top in your hand should be tip visible around 90°.
Your fingers shouldn’t really hold the spintop but your thumb.
Move your whole arm not just your hand or forearm, if needed, adjust the top release from 90 ° to 140° (approximately :))
The lateral throw
The video shows the “lateral throw” used by most of the jugglers as it leads nicely to the “Boomerang“.
You should also try and achieve the “fight throw” to start spinning top fights with friends!
Remember:
Do not pull back when throwing the top, your arm should stay where your gesture ends.
Move your whole arm not just your hand or forearm, if needed, adjust the top release from 90 ° to 140° (approximately 🙂
The fight throw
The fight throw is commonly used across the world to play spintop fights, even if some regions don’t throw this way…
This time the spintop will be thrown from up to down giving you more power to attack opponents!
When you can throw, try to target some things!
Trapeze
Trapeze is another tricks-oriented throw.
Point is to get your spintop directly on string with full spin.
Done! What’s next?
Firstly, you can now play with spintops, working your throws you should quickly progress and be precise, challenging you to target some arenas, frisbees and such stuff.
You can enjoy to walk the dog as next goal.
You can try to throw under your leg, behind the head and so on…
Of course you from now on try to get back your spintop to your hand with a “big scoop” or a “sky rocket“.
